An Honest Review of PicassoTiles’ Magnetic Drawing Board (PTB01)

The Takeaway

Picasso Tiles’ Magnetic Drawing Board is a mess-free, easy to use, STEM-oriented way to practice pre-writing skills and have fun!

I was tired of the spilled water during our paintbrush/writing practice and as of yet, do not own a pattern board. I knew that our crayons are washable, but I still would fear Vicky’s exuberance for coloring any surface.

Enter the Magnetic Drawing Board! Using a stylus with a magnet sphere attached at the bottom, all Vicky has to do is run the pen over the hole and a bead appears.

If you have enjoyed Picasso Tiles or if you are looking for a way to start teaching your child the basics of writing, this should be the next toy in your Amazon cart. It will eliminate the mess of traditional writing utensils, as well as induce the proper hand movements needed for the next writing milestones that your little one is approaching.

We actually received the package while my parents were in town. After handling it for a few moments, my father looked me straight in the eye and asked “Why aren’t they charging more for this?”. Honestly, I’m not sure. This toy checks off a lot of boxes for me, especially as it relates to some basic science principles. Magnets and magnetism are fun for little ones to explore, so you’ll have your work cut out for you explaining that basic lesson.

The actual board isn’t too heavy and the locking mechanism of the beads is pretty dependable. So much so, that you can turn it upside down, and while the other beads may appear, when it is right side up, the original image remains.
