Places to buy the Inspire My Play ”PlayTRAY Building Block Mat”: on their website or Amazon.

You’re already familiar with my deep affection for the Inspire My Play “PlayTRAY Building Block Mat”! Let me tell you, this product is an absolute gem. If you’re tired of dealing with clunky LEGO tables that just don’t hit the mark, get ready to be as excited as I am. Last weekend Vicky and I were stuck inside during some thunderstorms. Together, we embarked on a playful journey to explore the countless ways this ingenious mat can elevate our fun and learning. Trust me, it’s not just about play – it’s about sparking creativity and even sneaking in some learning along the way! So, lean in and let me share all the delightful details of how this little wonder has taken our playtime to a whole new level. Here are 4 new ways to play! Get ready to be inspired!

1. Place it on a tray and make a ball run!

Using the Grimm’s Small Rainbow Balls and a tray I bought from Target,  we set up a ball run using Legos as the guiding walls. The rim of the tray helped keep the ball contained. We just had to tilt the tray to get it to move where we wanted. It reminded me a lot of the retired Grimm’s Labrinyth.

2. Turn the Bastua table into a gaming table

I’ve already spoken about the Bastura table, but it is just so versatile! We are slowly getting into table games, as Vicky expresses interest. Tic tac toe is a big favorite! And it’s super adaptable to this set up with our Legos!

3. Explore symmetry with Legos

A circle is a perfect setting for practicing symmetry. Whether using a wooden tray or a Bastua table, place four same color lego pieces setting up your X and Y axis. This will help your child orient themselves on the “graph”.

4. Word building with Lego letters

This one was a favorite! Using a Sharpie and thin painter’s tape, I wrote our vowels and common consonants on a block and started her on building words.

So what do you think? Are you going to try any of these? Let me know below!
